Time involved with hobby rocketry:
"Nearly as far back as I can remember. I started out with building plastic display models of rockets and spacecraft. When model rocketry became available where I lived (in the early ‘70’s), I delved into this and spent about a year building and flying Estes type rockets. This whet my appetite for learning more about the inner workings of a rocket motor. When I learned about “caramel candy” propellant, I experimented and soon found success. I’ve been passionate about this hobby ever since."
Specific interests or aspirations with respect to hobby rocketry (other than SSTS):
"I aspire to spread the word that involvement in amateur experimental rocketry is not only fun and educational, but also a wonderful way to develop an interest in non-mainstream technology and in experimentation, both of which I feel are under-emphasized in today’s world, yet so important for tomorrow’s world."
Accomplishments in rocketry:
"My most memorable rocket flight was my Cirrus One rocket which I launched in New Mexico in April of 2001. That was a spectacular flight that reached an apogee of 10,000 feet."
Other current projects:
"I’m working on many rocketry related projects simultaneously. Perhaps the most challenging is developmental work on new propellants."
Other hobby or side interests:
"I have other side interests, such as electronics and photography, but unfortunately no time to work on them."
