Highlights of recent developments on the MiniSShot Project
-------------------------------------------------------------
- Paul Brong Machinery finished the cutting and machining of the casting
tubes. The tubes have been delivered to Sam Grado, who will forward them
on to California for the upcoming propellant casting sessions.
- Richard has completed the task of applying the thermal ablative on the
nozzle inlet for the ProtoSShot Short Stack motor. The only remaining
task to complete the nozzle is to machine the ablative to blueprint
dimensions after curing. Here is a photo of the nozzle with the ablative
material freshly cast in place. The nozzle was mounted on a vibrating
table to help remove any trapped air:

The ablative consists of epoxy/phenolic microballoons/chopped glass to
the ratio of 80/10/10, which was determined to be the most effective of
several ablative materials tested. Natural cork also received high marks
as an effective ablative.
- Alberto has updated the Showcase Gallery with recent photos:

- Ed Mallory reports that he has spent time this past week fully
familiarizing himself with the Chute Controller, in preparation for a
second flight test in the near future. Ed plans to concentrate on the
all-important GPS transmitter units next.
-The "Launch Pad" fund-raising campaign is progressing well. To date,
we've collected $1240. Spread the word, and let's make this campaign a
success before its time.
