Highlights of recent developments on the MiniSShot Project
-------------------------------------------------------------
- Over the past week, there has been concerted effort to review all the
data, photos and videos of last Saturday's test firing of the MiniSShot
motor. As well, all motor components have been carefully inspected to
gleam as much knowledge as possible as to how well the various
components performed. For the most part, it has been positive news. Good
thrust, chamber pressure and thermal data was collected. From a thermal
perspective, the various insulations performed very well, with no signs
of overheating of any motor parts. The report which tabulates the
thermal label measurements has been completed:

This report will soon be posted on our website.
- The Propulsion Team has been brainstorming ideas for design
improvements to overcome the debris-related nozzle blockage issue. Hans
suggestion of using an ablative liner for the aft motor chamber is
seriously being considered, along with a number of other possible solutions.
- Ed Mallory reports that he will be sending the Chute Controller and
Flight Computer data from his flight two weekends ago to Hans for
evaluation. Ed reports that there seems to be some anomaly in the data
with regard to pressure readings.
- More photos of the November 22nd motor firing event have been posted.
