Highlights of recent developments on the MiniSShot Project
-------------------------------------------------------------

- Grant Saviers has completed the task of of drilling and tapping the 96
precision-located holes in the MiniSShot motor parts manufactured by
Pioneer Metal Works Inc. Grant will be sending the completed parts to
Richard for application of the ablative insulation coating on the Nozzle
and Midbulkhead, and the cork liner on the Forward Bulkhead. Photos of
the parts and the drilling & tapping process:

Thanks so much, Grant, for employing your skills and machine tools in
support of SS2S !

- Richard has received the 1/2 kilo sample of "Twaron" chopped aramid
fibre that was donated by Teijan Aramid USA (
(http://www.teijinaramid.com ), arranged by Sam Grado. Our thanks goes
out to Michael J. Knight of Teijan. The fibre will be used in
development of an advanced ablative insulation that will be used for
thermal protection for next MiniSShot motor firing.

- Ed Romani ( http://www.rocketsaway.com/trucore/ ) has completed the
Finocyl mandrel that will be used for casting experimental grains. This
configuration is being considered for the upcoming MiniSShot test firing
as a means of producing a more reliable thrust profile and to reduce
thermal loading of the motor casing insulation. Photo of the completed
Delrin mandrel assembly:
