Highlights of recent developments on the MiniSShot Project
-------------------------------------------------------------
- The next firing of the Blast Tube Motor (BTM) is scheduled for April
11th. The plan is to test two or possibly three different insulation
materials. The linen phenolic tubing that was slated to be tested during
the first BTM firing in January (which was not, due to time limitations)
will be tested. As well, tubing made from improved ablative material
that is currently being developed will be tested. Rick Maschek has
agreed to head up the BTM firing this time around. The BTM may also be
used concurrently to test fire grains with a finocyl core, which is also
being worked on by Rick.
- Richard has begun testing of various improved ablative insulation
materials including formulations that utilize the aramid fibre that was
recently provided by Teijin.
