Weekly Activity Report - March 23-29, 2009

Highlights of recent developments on the MiniSShot Project
-------------------------------------------------------------

-
Chris King has agreed to fly GHATR (Go High Altitude Test Rocket)
another three more times in support of the Chute Control (CC) flight test program.
The intention is to progressively verify operation of the different operating features.
The next GHATR flight is planned to have active CC main chute deployment,
followed on the next flight by active drogue deploy. The last flight will have active drogue,
active main and 2nd phase ignition simulated by firing of a smoke charge.

- Two Big Red Bee transmitters have been ordered for use as MinSShot
recovery beacons. One will be housed in the Payload Capsule, and the other in the Booster (both sections will descend separately).

- John Raid has modified the Avionics Block Diagram with the latest revisions: http://www.sugarshot.org/downloads/minisshot_block_diagram_v5.pdf

- Hans reports that he has tested the Main Computer with the thermal
sensor board with positive results.

- Richard has painted the two motor casings (the usual white colour to
aid inspection of possible thermal damage ): http://www.sugarshot.org/downloads/casingsfreshlypainted.jpg
As well, Richard has fabricated and installed the pressure sensor port
fitting in the Forward Bulkhead:

- SS2S supporter Monroe King has agreed to machine couplers and other
miscellaneous parts. Two drawings have been sent to Monroe: nosecone/fuselage
coupler, and load cell stand-off fitting. Thanks so much for your support,
Monroe! Note that there will not be a report next week, and the next Weekly Activity
Report will be released in two weeks from now (due to vacation).

--- More than ever, financial support is needed to allow us to continue to make great strides forward. To share in our dream, help by making a contribution to the Sugar Shot to Space program. http://www.sugarshot.org/sponsors.html#Donors
