Highlights of recent developments on the MiniSShot Project
-------------------------------------------------------------
- The Feb.7th launch of the MiniSShot has been scrubbed. There were a
number of reasons why it was felt necessary to postpone the flight
including a prediction of poor weather, some snags in getting parts
ready, and a desire to conduct a more careful preparation of the rocket
and all its components. For the past week, the forecasted weather at the
launch site has called for clouds and rain, including this upcoming
weekend. Exceptionally high winds aloft (up to 100 knots on Saturday)
were cause for concern. A new launch date is currently being finalized
and will be announced next week.
- Richard has completed refurbishment of the Mid-bulkhead and Forward
Bulkhead

- Chris King has completed all the wiring of the avionics (Forward Bay)
including connections to the LiPo power supplies. Chris has also began
extensive ground testing of the integrated electronics and reports that,
for the most part, all are working well. The only exceptions to date
have been the beacon, putting out less power than expected, and a glitch
with operation of the GPS antenna. Chris is currently troubleshooting
these issues with Hans and Peter's help.

- Rick Maschek reports that the Sugar Shot decals ordered by Knut have
arrived. These high quality decals will be mounted on the MiniSShot rocket.

- Rick Maschek has completed casting all 12 propellant grains for the
upcoming MiniSShot flight. Rick's continuous improvements in casting
have resulted in an average density of 97.6% of theoretical. One of the
casting tubes developed a crack during casting (likely due to a defect)
and will need to be replaced, and the grain re-cast.

- Rober Krech has completed formulating the By-laws document which will
govern the Sugar Shot to Space Foundation, the Non-profit organization
which will serve to support the Sugar Shot to Space Program. A draft
copy of the document may be viewed here:
