Highlights of recent developments on the MiniSShot Project
-------------------------------------------------------------
- Ben Brocket has kindly supplied several good photos of last weekend's Phoenix launch event:

- Hans has reviewed the Phoenix flight data and provided the following comments:
For the Chute Controller:
1) Apogee detected.
2) Fixed time  "detected"
3) Descent altitude is working although it misses by 50 meters (if it was set to 400m and not 350). It looks like the descent was not smooth and this may have disturbed the CC somewhat, but still it adapted from the (pure guesswork) 45 seconds to 36.
For the Main Computer:
1) GPS: Output data are strangely formatted, but not unreadable. This is probably some Excel language setting. GPS time is not working for some odd reason. Latitude, longitude and altitude looks like they are OK, although the ascent is "blurred".
2) Internal sensors. Data is uncalibrated, but qualitatively everything looks good.
3) External data. The temperature sensors looks a bit odd, like they are being disturbed in a cyclic pattern (approximately every 10'th second). It is impossible for me to tell if the temperatures are as expected.

- A Skype "debriefing" telecon was held on Wednesday to review the Phoenix launch event. In particular, the discussion centered around what went well and what did not go well, with both launch preparations and the actual flight. The "lessons learned" will be applied to help make the MiniSShot launch event a success. Participants in the telecon were Matt  Campbell, Chris King, Rick Maschek and Richard Nakka.

- The next MiniSShot launch attempt will be the weekend of April 24-25. The "rain" date is May 15-16.

- Rick Maschek successfully performed a "proof loading" test of the MiniSShot fins. These are the fins fabricated by Andrew Nowakowski with finishing work and skillful mounting to the airframe done by Rick. In the test, a 50 lb (23 kg) force was applied to the airframe, which was reacted by a pair of fins. This loading represents 25% of the design ultimate load for the fins.

- A "discussion document" has been created in order to come up with a Mission Statement, decide on Specific Goals, and Key Milestones.
